"Postpartum is not just about the physical recovery from childbirth, it's about the emotional, mental, and holistic recovery that truly allows a mother to thrive."
- Maranda Bower
HOW IT STARTED
Post-Natal Kindness started as a personal experience...
In 2022, our founder, Winnie, gave birth to twin boys. While it was an incredible blessing to welcome two healthy babies, she quickly found herself overwhelmed by the demands of post-natal life. The sheer number of tasks associated with caring for a newborn can easily overwhelm new parents. Often, a mother can manage the baby’s needs but lacks the energy to handle everything else. From cleaning and cooking to resting, laundry, grocery shopping, dropping off mail, visiting the doctor’s office, caring for older siblings, and even finding someone to talk to who understands—the list is endless.
WHY WE DO IT
Because we live in a highly demanding Western society...
When one parent is on maternity leave, the other is often working as the breadwinner. As a result, mothers are expected to manage a great deal, yet there are few services available to support them.

According to the Canadian Maternity Experiences Survey...

Mental Health
Data released in 2019 indicates that 23% of new mothers in Canada experienced symptoms of post-partum depression or anxiety after childbirth.

Stress
In the 12 months after childbirth, 12.5% of women reported that most days were very stressful.

Lack of Support
Some women (13%) had little or to no support available to them during their pregnancy.
